چکیده
BCC: basal cell carcinoma ENL: erythema nodosum leprosum LL: lepromatous leprosy MS: multiple sclerosis INTRODUCTION Leprosy, also known as Hansen disease, is a chronic bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae. M. leprae has low pathogenicity and virulence, developing over many months to even decades, and has the potential to cause extensive damage to the skin and peripheral nervous system. Here we present a patient with a history of multiple sclerosis (MS) who presented with 3 lesions that clinically appeared like basal cell carcinomas (BCC). After biopsies were collected, pathology revealed lepromatous leprosy (LL).

Background: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most common form of skin cancer, usually occurs in the sun-exposed areas of the body like head and neck, yet is also seen in unexpected sites. Myriad studies have mentioned a lower limb BCC incidence rate of 1.5-13.5%.Methods: The present retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 650 BCC patients, who were referred to the dermatology tumor ...
متن کاملProteomic Analysis of Gene Expression in Basal Cell Carcinoma
Background: Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) is a type of non-melanoma skin cancer. Alteration in gene expression is the important event that happens in cancer cell. Detection of this event is possible by proteomics techniques. Methods: Normal and tumor tissues were taken from BCC patient. Total proteins were purified by standard methods, and proteins were separated by two-dimensional electrophoresis...
متن کاملComparison of relative frequency of basal cell carcinoma in 1368-69 and 1378-79, in Razi Hospital, Tehran
Background and aim:Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common cancer in whites. The most important risk factor for developing BCC is solar ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. As the weather in most parts of Iran is mostly sunny, BCC is common. This study was performed to evaluate changes in the frequency of BCC in 1368-69 and 1378-79.Materials and Methods: This descriptive...
